It is hard to believe that we are prepping for our fall event! Where did the summer go? But prepping we are, and the excitement builds. Making lists, throwing pots, firing kilns and filling the shelves. The cycle of clay.
After giving it a try last year, of opening the event back up for walk in…. we will be going back to booking a preferred time to come and attend the showcase. All of you lovely people showed up at the same time and it was a bit overcrowded to say the least. Lol…so Friday and Saturday will be booked times and then Sunday will be open to wander in when you feel the urge. It will allow for twenty people to move comfortably around the showcase and be able to see all the amazing works created by the artisans. Very civilized…..lol.
I always struggle with the feeling that I need to have something ‘new’ on the shelves for a show. And there usually is something that one of my brilliant customers has said…..can you make me this? But as I look through my past inventories, I realize that most are looking for the tried and true. The comfort items. Bowls of all shapes and sizes to fill with delightful consumables, plates and trays to load up with holiday treats to share with loved ones and of course the perfect mug. There is nothing more comforting than that perfect mug that nestles in your hand and warms you. Or the mug you give that becomes the only mug to be used. So, there will be something new on the shelves, but you can be assured that the shelves will be filled with all the pieces we create that you have come to know and love.
As well as all our many pottery items, the studio will be filled with fine handcrafted work from all our talented artisan friends. We are excited to say that we have some new artisans joining us this showcase. Woven Dreams Fibre Arts Studio is joining us for her first Christmas Showcase. She brought us a few of her unbelievably soft, hand woven cotton tea towels in the spring, but they disappeared so fast, most of you didn’t even get to see them. We have ensured that there are going to be lots to choose from this time. We are also pleased to welcome Twisted Sister Metalworks. You will delight in these organic tree forms created from twisted wire. Such a dichotomy….taking the stiff usually unmoving material of metal and creating an organic form of nature.
